 THE NEED TO SOLVE WATER SHORTAGE AND SCARCITY IN AFRICA.


According to United Nations, sustainable development goals Goal 6 is about clean water and sanitation for all. Growing up in rural Africa water shortage is a major challenge .





 Availability of water resources for most African families is a challenge with most residing in rural Africa. Clean water shortage for consumption is a major challenge with 1 in every 3 people lacking access to clean water according to World Health Organization.




Water scarcity and contamination is a global crisis that affects billions.



Global warming and overexploitation are major contributors to water shortage. An increase in human population and urbanization is a major contributor to overexploitation due to water demand levels. 






Human population increase leads to more food demand, industrial growth, and urbanization which can only be fueled by quality water supply.


Everything About the Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation 


Water scarcity affects the health condition of the majority of Africans by consuming unsafe water leading to widespread diarrhea fatal in Africa due to poor health care system.






Agriculture is the key economic sector for the majority of the African population which holds 14% of the total Gross domestic product (GDP)in sub-Saharan Africa. Water scarcity affects agricultural production leading to food shortages and famine.


 Goal 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all


Water shortage threatens Africa’s biodiversity and water body masses like Lake Turkana the largest desert lake.



African governments should engage the masses in finding solutions through the management of resources and the adoption of droughts resistance seeds.
